Getting healthy and focused starts from within, and before you can take care of your loved ones, you’ve got to take care of yourself first.

That’s a valuable lesson Fit Mother Sarah learned, and it helped her and her husband (who is a Fit Father) get their whole family fit!

Sarah is a busy mom to three teenage kids who, alongside her husband, has gotten her whole household healthy.

They worked together to get their nutrition and fitness in sync, and they’ve had amazing results.

Sarah lost 30 pounds, toned up, and got so much more consistent, and her husband lost over 60 pounds!

More than that, they got their kids involved, and now everyone is in tune with their minds, bodies, and souls.

Sarah talks about what it takes to pull off the Fit Mother lifestyle, stay focused amid the busyness of life, and how to be OK with the fact that we can't always be perfect and that things do change.

It's all about the mindset and being consistent — those are the real keys to success.

Sarah also discusses getting past weight loss plateaus and how to stay motivated and focused after you hit your goals.

It’s a beautiful story that you’re sure to love!

Longing For A Better Life

Growing up, Sarah never cared about what she ate.

As she got into adulthood and life set in, it began catching up to her.

Sarah had tried many diet plans before, but nothing seemed to work for her.

Her husband was in the same boat.

Then, he found the Fit Father Project.

“We joined the programs at the same time!”

The Fit Father and Fit Mother programs finally tied it all together for both of them.

“We were in and out of fitness. We hit the gym, but we were missing a meal plan.”

Once they had a clear plan in place, they hit the ground running and started seeing success.

Sarah loved that the program was sustainable and not restrictive.

“What I loved about this program is that it does not forbid you from eating something. It just asks you to eat everything in moderation.”

Learn from Sarah about getting healthy and focused and getting your whole family fit!

Healthy and Focused

Sarah admits that initially, they followed only the workout component of the program as it seemed easier than its nutrition component.

However, they soon learned the importance of the meal plan, and that you can't out-exercise a bad diet.

From then on, there was no looking back!

Sarah dove into the program hardcore and even entered our yearly Transformation Contest.

“Part of my mission statement focused on losing weight in a healthy way. I didn't want to not eat. It was not only unhealthy but also not sustainable. I also didn't want to binge eat as that tends to be a thing people do if they skip meals. I wanted to do this the right way.”

With the help of the Fit Mother Project, Sarah lost 30 pounds.

Her husband lost 60 pounds with the Fit Father Project.

They got their children involved in their workouts and healthy eating, too, and now the whole family is on the path to proper health and fitness.

Sarah also learned how to stay motivated and get past plateaus.

“Once you have hit a plateau, I think everything from there becomes a non-scale victory because if you are still getting up and working out, that is a victory.”

So what would Sarah say to someone looking to join the Fit Mother Project?

“The first month, follow the program to a T. It's encouraging to see results. Keep pushing yourself. Everybody is different, and when you're in a busy life stage, you have to make some compromises. Either now or later, but time gets away. If you do it later, you're probably not going to do it. Stick with your water intake. If the scale isn't moving, don't get frustrated. Sit down and reevaluate what it is that you're doing. Once you get past the first month, you'll hit that plateau. It's part of the program and life. But you can keep going and pushing.”

Healthy and Focused

3 Key Takeaways From Sarah's Journey

To summarize, here are three key lessons you can learn from Sarah’s successful health and fitness journey:

Lesson 1: Motivation Will Come and Go, and That's OK

There will be days when motivation is hard to come by.

On these days, do all you can to stick to your routine.

Persistence and consistency can overcome a lack of motivation.

But, if you do slip up or miss a workout, it's OK. Just get back on track the next day!

Lesson 2: Life Will Always Throw Curveballs At You

Change is the only constant in life.

No matter how planned and prepared you are, life will present you with unpredictable situations.

Don't blame yourself for situations that you have no control over.

Control what you can and keep moving forward!

Lesson 3: Stay Flexible

The key to building a healthy meal plan is moderation.

Yes, you need to eat healthy foods, but you don't have to have a restrictive diet.

Avoid processed foods and sugar-filled junk food, but allowing yourself a cheat meal once a week sets a balance between your desires and goals.

Understand what your body needs and give that to it!

Breaking bad habits is possible at any age, and the reward you receive is great peace in mind, body, and soul.

That's what Kristen did using the Fit Mother Program. She truly changed her life!

Like many of us, Kristen struggled with weight gain, hormone issues in menopause, and bouts of depression.

Over the years, she tried many fad diets (including keto) and a bunch of workout kicks that just didn’t work for her.

She was lacking energy and wasn't happy in a lot of places in her life, and that lack of contentment was negatively affecting her marriage, her kids, and even her relationship with God.

Eventually, Kristen reached a breaking point: she realized she couldn’t continue the pattern of her old habits anymore. It was literally killing her, and she needed to make a change.

She found the Fit Mother Program online, convinced her best friend to join with her, and within a year she lost over 90 pounds! Her husband joined Fit Father and lost 25lbs himself.

Most importantly, Kristen was able to reinvigorate her life, physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. She got herself completely on track, and learned so many amazing lessons along the way!

Listen to Kristen's Story on the Fit Mother Project Podcast:

Depressed, Discouraged, and Unhappy in Life

One day at church, Kristen met an old friend who had lost about 30 pounds on the Fit Father Program.

She was thoroughly impressed by his genuine transformation and decided to explore the Fit Mother Program

“I got home that night, hopped on my computer, and found that the Fit Mother Project was the complement to the Fit Father Project. I was really excited about it, so I talked to my best friend about it. She was looking for a change too. So we joined the program and never looked back.”

At the time of joining the Fit Mother Project, Kristen weighed 235 pounds. Here's what Kristen shares:

“I was at my heaviest. I'm midlife. I'm not in a place where I can continue the pattern of old habits. I've got to make a change. I was lacking a lot of energy. I wasn't happy in lots of places in my life, and that lack of contentment was affecting my marriage, family, and relationships with people.”

Despite her weight, Kristen was doing her best to remain physically active.

Nevertheless, continuously pushing her her body without the right approach to exercise was leading to burnout & depression.

“I was trying to do a lot of things that I just wasn't physically able to do anymore. I started sinking into a place of significant discouragement. When I look back, I feel like I was probably depressed, and I'm a bit of a pessimist anyway.”

One of Kristen’s biggest weaknesses was emotional eating, which played a significant role in her weight gain.

“My brother had died the fall of the year before. So the patterns of emotional eating that I had then hit overdrive, and I gained an extra 15 to 20 pounds in about six months. So I knew I needed to change the way I was living my life. I couldn’t continue because I was going to eat myself to death.”

Even though Kristen had tried some weight loss techniques before joining the Fit Mother Program, she lacked the foundational understanding of health to experience sustainable results.

“The way the Fit Mother Project Project laid out the educational aspects of what nutrition looks like was simply great. I learned so much. I loved the program's structure, and being able to control my environment. It was a fantastic experience because it felt like you were equipping me right from the beginning on how exactly to do that.”

Everything from lessons on the importance of hydration to preparing healthy meals was life-changing for Kristen.

Find out how Kristen created healthy habits and behaviors using a positive feedback loop!

Breaking Bad Habits

The Fit Mother Program gave Kristen the courage and motivation to get rid of her unhealthy old habits.

Even though building new habits was overwhelming, she kept going and gave it her best.

“It was a lot of work. Every morning I'd get up and already have a plan because of the journaling that the Fit Mother Project had given us. It taught us about our water intake, breakfast, lunch, dinner, our go-to meals, and things like that. It really prepared me for success straight out in front without me having to make a lot of decisions in the spur of the moment.”

Still, one of the most nerve-wracking aspects of the Fit Mother Program for Kristen was exercising.

“I was scared to death because even though I was a physical person in the past, I never did anything past college. But even then, I was overweight and never fit, nor had I been given a lot of instruction on how to do that. So the exercises were excellent.”

Within two weeks of joining the Fit Mother Project, Kristen began noticing changes in her body and the way she felt about herself, even though they were not clearly visible on the scale.

She recalls how the Fit Mother Project urges you to celebrate non-scale victories (NSVs).

“I could see strides being made very early on, even if it wasn't on the scale, which is great because the program recognizes non-scale victories too. Sometimes they're bigger than the ones on the scale that you get on every morning.”

Kristen's entire family began to get on board. Her husband joined the Fit Father Project and lost 25 pounds!

“In the process of all this happening, my husband and children have done better. They eat a lot more of what I eat nowadays. And I keep a lot less in the house, giving them the opportunity to eat according to my plans. Desserts and other things that used to trigger the eating around the house nonchalantly have dropped significantly. So that’s good.”

At first, Kristen wanted to get down to 155 pounds. She got there! And then set a new goal for 145.

“I was able to continue eating on plan and having a free meal once in a while, or a free item once in a while, and doing my exercises six, seven days a week, and I was still dropping.”

She continued setting new goals and ended up losing about 100 pounds (WOW), Kristen recalls how she used to hate looking at herself in the mirror before starting the program.

“I didn't like looking in the mirror. It affected my intimacy with my husband because I hated myself. I really was very discouraged by the fact that I continued to increase the sizes of my clothing. I was a size 18 going into a 20 pretty quickly.”

However, not just her body but her mindset also changed during her Fit Mother transformation.

It was so motivating to get going. I started to see the changes and have more energy. I started to have a different mindset about things I saw that I could be really proactive for my own health. It was very empowering. Before, I just felt completely defeated. I really think that the biggest transformation for me even early on was a mental one because I started to really take responsibility for the fact that I had a lack of self-control and discipline in the way I eat.”

So, what would Kristen say to someone looking to join the Fit Mother Project?

“The most important part is using the tools the Fit Mother Project gives us. Go back and read the meal plan. Go all the way from the beginning to the end. This process is meant to enable you to get fit and take care of yourself. A big part of doing this successfully is believing that it's not going to happen overnight. Be patient with yourself and gracious because it's hard work. Be courageous, take a breath and start and do as much as you can. And every day that you keep showing up and you keep doing it, you're going to start believing in yourself more. Also, become a part of the Fit Mother Project’s Facebook community. For me, that community was a huge part of my success.”

3 Key Takeaways From Kristen's Journey

To summarize, here are three key lessons you can learn from Kristen’s successful health and fitness journey:

Lesson 1: Hydration Is Extremely Vital for Energy & Consistency

Water not only removes toxins from your body and acts like fuel for your workout regime, but it also keeps you full.

Begin your day with water. After all, seven to eight hours of recommended sleep during the night is a long period to go without any water consumption.

Lesson 2: Overcome Self-Destructive Behavior to Steer Positive Changes in Your Life

Self-destructive behaviors are never sustainable. You'll eventually need to turn it around, so you best start today..

If you continue with the negative momentum in your life, it will spiral you deeper until you hit rock bottom, where the consequences become more severe.

For example, Kristen hit the point in her life where she started hating her own body because of her weight and eating habits.

That’s when she knew she had to do something about it.

But, once you generate positive momentum in your life and change it for the better, you’ll become unstoppable.

Lesson 3: Start Your Health and Fitness Journey With Structure

When you start with structure, you can start to see results and energy in a proper direction.

  • And then it becomes self-reinforcing in time.
  • Consider your health and fitness goals.
  • Ensure you’re creating a balanced routine.
  • Start slow and progress steadily.
  • Build activity into your daily routine.

Be flexible along the way!  Because life happens, and it's far better to deviate a bit from your meal plan or workout regime than to give up entirely.

AND… make sure to prioritize recovery! If you know you're doing too much and you're feeling burnt out, focus on REST and HEALTHY NUTRITION until your energy is back up.

Congratulations Kristen! We are so proud of you! Love, the Fit Mother Team

Overcoming depression and overeating is never easy, especially when you're a busy mom.

But with the right plan and the proper support, it can be done!

Megan is a 38-year-old mother of four who, after a lifetime of bad eating habits and having four babies, found herself not where she wanted to be health and fitness-wise.

Like many women, she tried losing weight at different times, but nothing seemed to stick or truly work for her.

Depression led to overeating, and the negative cycle continued.

But, after her husband saw incredible results in a short amount of time on the Fit Father Project, she decided to give the Fit Mother Project a try.

When she wrote her mission statement, something just clicked, and she was off and running!

Gaining Weight … and Bad Habits

During her younger years, Megan never had to worry about staying fit or maintaining her weight. However, she started gaining weight after pregnancy.

“As soon as I started having babies, the weight just kind of started piling on. I never lost it in between having babies. I had a lot of nasty habits too. I was very self-indulgent. I believe that you only live once and must enjoy your life.”

She’s also a big foodie.

“I love food. I love cooking. I love baking. I kind of share my love through food, and I feel like that’s an important part of family time and togetherness. So a combination of all of those things had just really packed on the pounds.”

Megan and her husband tried different weight loss techniques to shed the extra pounds; however, their efforts hardly bore fruit.

“My husband and I both tried to lose weight, but never really lost more than maybe five pounds at a time. It never lasted more than three months.”

Moreover, after quitting, she would fall back into her old habits.

At the end of 2019, Megan’s husband joined the Fit Father Project, and he achieved quick and incredible results.

During the same period, Megan began exploring different fitness programs for herself but couldn’t find a suitable one.

“I had just gotten to this really low point, feeling pretty hopeless that nothing was going to work for me. I thought that it was working for my husband because men always lose weight fast and women don’t.”

Around the same time, Megan ran a 5K but was unhappy with her performance.

“I have a very fit sister who is also a personal trainer. I ran the 5k with her, and I’ve never been more embarrassed. I did it. I finished it, but I was trapped in this place of comparison and just stuck and unhappy and feeling like there was nothing that I could do.”

That’s when her husband suggested she join the Fit Mother Project program.

“I had reached the end point where I couldn’t fit in my life jacket anymore. I didn’t have the endurance that I used to have. I couldn’t keep up with my family on hikes anymore. I was always in the back and had to take lots of rest. I couldn’t do the things I wanted to do anymore. And that hit me hard. And I thought anything was worth trying at this point. So that’s when I signed up for the Fit Mother Project.”

Depression and overeating disorders can make for a challenging weight loss journey as a busy mom. See how Megan overcame it all!

Finding Her Mission and Motivation

According to Megan, her mission statement (something everyone has to write when joining FMP) was a big eye-opener for her.

“It’s like taking a real honest look at yourself in the mirror when you write that mission statement. If you’re honest with yourself about it and you allow yourself to be vulnerable in that, it takes you to this place of like almost desperation, like I’m doing this.”

She began working out and started with Apex 10. She started with five-pound weights but soon had to drop them and continue without the weights. It was challenging for her.

Luckily, her husband was there for her.

“I was fortunate that my husband had been doing the Fit Father Project. He was a major support to me, and the fact that we could plan our meals together was exciting. He was cooking more. I’ve always done all the cooking, but he had started cooking so that he could eat the food that he knew he needed to eat.”

Her kids were also big supporters.

“My kids were there watching me working out, which was a big motivation. They would sit there and watch me do the workout, and nothing pushed me to get through to the end of the workout more than this. Having your children watching you and your husband there cheering you on was great.”

Still, Megan struggled with depression and a lot of negative self-belief.

There were weeks and days when she didn’t feel like doing anything.

So she started considering herself lazy and worthless.

Nevertheless, the Fit Mother Project program changed the way she looked at herself and paved the way to positive self-belief.

“I was starting to schedule my day and make time for things, which was huge. It was huge for me because that was never a possibility in the past. I typically work out around 9:00 or 9:30 in the morning. I’m able to plan my weeks ahead now. That’s one of the skills that the Fit Mother Project has taught me. Now I plan.”

At one point, Megan was so determined and motivated to achieve her goals that she started working out at 6:30 am, after waking up at 4:30 am.

“I’m sure I shocked the world when I did that because 4:30 is a rough hour. It was dark outside, but I just was determined, and I had seen so much growth that there was no way I was going to give it up. I love it, and it makes me feel good.”

According to Megan, nutrition is by far the most critical element of weight loss, and exercise is crucial for exerting personal power and building determination and emotional momentum.

“I feel like our whole shopping has changed. What I have in my fridge and pantry has changed drastically and become a habit. I feel like we have a lot of quick, good things to grab easily now. I used to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables before, but now when I go shopping, my car is loaded even more from the produce section.”

Before starting the Fit Mother Project program, Megan and her family often ate out. Not so much anymore.

“We ate out a lot and drank a lot of soda when we ate out. We were getting treats every week, a couple of times a week. We realized we were making baked goods. I was letting my kids bake almost every day. So those I think were the biggest habits that changed.”

Now, she feels like the proper nutrition has cleaned up her system and removed all the background noise.

“I am doing the right things for my body, and my body does speak to me. And I love eating this way. I don’t need the junk.”

And she always reminds herself that slow and steady wins the race, and now her weight loss is maintainable and sustainable.

“As you continue to cycle through the next several phases, they build on each other mentally more than anything. The last phase was hard, but I did it. I gained this mental toughness and confidence. I would hit roadblocks, but I learned how to get around them.”

According to Megan, her Fit Mother Project journey was indeed a transformative process.

“I feel like, for me, the biggest and most important transformation happened within myself, within my mind. I asked God for help because I want to be there for my children. I want to be a better mother and a better partner to my husband. I want to be a better community member. But my body was holding me back. All of the choices that I was making before were taking away from my life.”

According to her, the Fit Mother Project gave her a structure to work with and guidelines to follow.

“It’s definitely been a very spiritual journey for me. I had a lot of negative self-talk before and did not feel good about myself. That affected my relationship with my husband, family, and friends. Once I started the Fit Mother Project journey, I flipped that around and was taking care of myself.”

So what would Megan say to someone looking to join the Fit Mother Project?

You become the person that you want to be by your actions and your efforts. You can become anything if you just put that work and effort into it. It doesn’t mean you’re meant to be heavy and lazy for the rest of your life simply because it’s in your genes. Your daily actions and efforts over time will determine what you become.”

Key Takeaways From Megan's Journey

To summarize, here are two key lessons you can learn from Megan’s successful health and fitness journey:

Lesson 1: When You Accomplish Something Difficult, There’s No Better Feeling in the World

If you are determined and willing to succeed, nothing can stop you from achieving your goals.

You can overcome even the most challenging of barriers.

And when you do, you feel more confident and proud.

Honestly, there’s no better feeling in the world than accomplishing something difficult.

Megan’s story is an excellent example.

By achieving her weight loss and fitness goals, she overcame depression and became confident.

Lesson 2: The Right Nutrition Is Extremely Vital

Proper nutrition is critical to maximizing athletic performance.

It is also the key to losing weight.

Good nutrition can help you shed excess pounds — without feeling hungry or having food cravings!

Healthy foods such as protein shakes, salads, and more are packed with nutrients, unlike processed foods, which are typically loaded with sugar, salt, and fat.

Here's how one Fit Mom did it.

Changing your mindset isn’t always easy. We can all get set in our ways. But, it can be done!

It’s all about getting into the right weight loss mindset and finding the right plan that works specifically for YOU!

Take Fit Mother Jacqueline, for example.

She's a busy 42-year-old woman with her own veterinary practice, a farm she runs with her family, a rental business on the side, two kids, a foreign exchange student, and a husband.

A busy, hectic life, to say the least!

She was also dealing with a knee injury that kept her from doing much, if any, exercise.

And she still found a way to lose 100 lbs!

Her story is truly inspiring.

Listen to Jacqueline's Story on the Fit Mother Project Podcast:

Prediabetes, Weight Gain, and a Series of Injuries

In December 2020, when Jacqueline visited her doctor, she was diagnosed with prediabetes.

Her glucose levels were high, as well.

Before that, in the summer of 2020, she tested positive for COVID-19, and it took her almost 23 days to test negative.

During that period, she lost 20 pounds; however, it was not enough.

“I lost 20 pounds then, but in December, I had gone to the doctor, and I weighed 265.4 pounds. I was disgusted with that. My daughter had asked if we could do a Rudolph Run. And I was like, I'm so fat, I can't do this. I cannot run three miles with my child. Like there's no way. I was even worried about walking it because I had been experiencing some numbness in my feet. So I didn't have great balance.”

Sometimes, while taking her horses out to the field, she would slip and fall.

However, one day, she slipped and injured her left knee.

“So I just hit a low and said I can't live like this anymore.”

During the same period, her husband had gained weight too.

He had come across the Fit Father Project in the past but never signed up.

“I just felt like I was at a point in my life where I couldn't wait any longer and was getting older. I just felt like that was the time. It was the best time. I didn't want to wait any longer. My husband and I decided that we were going to join the Fit Father and Fit Mother Projects on January 1, 2021.”

Every year in January, Jacqueline hosted university interns in her home for an entire month.

They went to work with her every day and used to do everything to assess if veterinary medicine was something they wanted to do.

Therefore, she waited until she settled them and started the Fit Mother Project program on January 7, 2021.

“That was my start date. I just said I'm going to commit to this and see what happens in the first 30 days. And then we'll see what happens from there.”

She lost 30 pounds in the first month.

“I was like, all right, this is working for me. I need to continue.”

Hear how Jacqueline went about changing her mindset.

Changing Your Mindset

During the first 30 days at of the Fit Mother Project, Jacqueline enjoyed her workouts.

“I think I was two weeks in, and I was like, I'm going to do the lifetime thing. I'm just going to join and do this. The workouts were great. I liked weightlifting. It was something I had never done in my life before. I was working out even with an injured knee.”

However, in February 2021, Jacqueline fell and hurt her knee yet again.

“I was doing all the workouts and even running, but the doctor recommended that I don't run anymore. So I started walking.”

Despite a knee injury, she lost over 85 pounds.

Jacqueline also suffered from gastrointestinal issues, which she believed resulted from the consumption of dairy and processed foods.

“I had terrible, almost IBD-like symptoms. For days together, I wouldn't poop at all and had awful constipation. And then there were days when I visited the bathroom multiple times. I had attributed these problems to some processed foods and even dairy. I was already avoiding dairy and some of the processed foods beforehand, and it helped a lot.”

After joining the Fit Mother Project, she started eating per the program's meal plans. She even stopped consuming sugary drinks.

“I sometimes just ate a chocolate bar and soda for lunch. What I found out during all of this was that, for me, soda was a huge trigger. The soda was a huge trigger; whether it was diet or regular, it didn't matter.”

However, it was not easy for Jacqueline to prevent her cravings for sugar.

So, she had to overcome it to achieve her fitness goals.

One day, while she was on a trip with her friends, she consumed soda instead of the hotel water, which did not taste good.

However, it turned out to be a big mistake as it took her ten days to stop craving sugars after that incident.

“One morning, I was craving pancakes. I don't even really like pancakes, but my child was ordering pancakes. In my mind, I knew it was wrong, and I just said, no, I'm not doing it. I realized at that moment that it was the soda that had changed my cravings. So, I decided to order an omelet. I did, and I felt full and happy. Every time I craved something, I just made a better decision.”

After losing 40 pounds, the journey to the 50-pound weight loss was more challenging.

She fell while carrying two 50-pound gas cans on both shoulders during an ice storm in West Virginia.

“I slipped on some ice. My knee went one way, and I went the other. I tore my collateral ligaments and had a meniscal tear. Moreover, the doctor informed me that they don't fix collateral ligaments. He recommended I stay off the exercise regime for a few weeks. He advised me not to do the upper body exercises also.”

Jacqueline was in a brace for eight weeks. Nevertheless, she followed her fitness plan as much as she could.

Her primary aim now was to eat clean.

“I wanted to go that route where all the vegetables we were eating were going to be homegrown or brought from the farmer's market. Moreover, when I started eating clean, I had zero gastrointestinal symptoms. I was allowed to walk with my brace, so I was still walking. I had a lot of animals to take care of.”

Jacqueline has not only lost weight with the Fit Mother Project but also gained back her energy and zest.

She attributes her fitness achievements to eating clean, exercising regularly, taking supplements, and staying focused throughout.

Recently, during Halloween, she visited a small country farm with her family to enjoy some rides and fun events.

She was more energetic than ever.

“They have this big bounce thing that's almost like a trampoline. I took off my shoes, and my son was like, what are you doing, mommy? Are you going to jump with us? You can do that. And I was like, yeah, I can do that. I went out and jumped, and we jumped for probably an hour.”

After losing 85 pounds, Jacqueline had a lot of loose skin around her belly.

Therefore, she started getting skin infections.

She found it difficult to live with the flab hanging around her belly.

Consequently, she was referred to a plastic surgeon to get the hanging skin removed.

“They pulled off 10 pounds of skin. So, in all, I lost almost 100 pounds. 85 pounds plus the 10-pound skin removed during the surgery.”

Jacqueline felt more confident about her body and looks after the weight loss and surgery.

So, what would Jacqueline say to someone looking to join the Fit Mother Project?

“You have to commit your mind to do this wholly. You have to say that this is what I'm going to do, and you have to commit your mind fully. Just start and do as much as you can for as long as you can. Push yourself to do a little more. Every time you do, you will get better.”

2 Key Takeaways From Jacqueline's Journey

To summarize, here are two key lessons you can learn from Jacqueline’s successful health and fitness journey:

Lesson 1: Never Say Never

The secret to achieving your goals is determination and the resolve to continue your journey no matter what and how many obstacles you encounter.

Jacqueline is an excellent example.

She faced multiple injuries during her journey with the Fit Mother Project; however, she did not give up.

Instead, she kept going until she completed her fitness mission.

Lesson 2: Eating Clean Can Give Great Results

As you probably already know, nutrition plays a significant role in getting healthy and fit.

Therefore, you must focus on proper nutrition along with a regular exercise regime.

For example, Jacqueline ultimately gave up on sugars and started eating clean.

She even went to the extent of eating only homegrown or organic vegetables.

You can lose weight, tone up, build muscle, and transform your body at any age — but first, you have to respect yourself!

Fit Mother Robin, a 50-year-old mother of two and the winner of our 2021 Transformation Contest, found a way to do just that, and her story is inspiring!

In early 2020, Robin lost her brother, who had just turned 50, to heart disease. That, and the onset of the pandemic, led Robin to let herself go, and she was overeating and drinking too much.

As the year rolled on and she was nearing her own 50th birthday, Robin knew she needed to change.

She had a family and a career.

She didn’t want to die of heart disease like her brother.

She needed to snap out of her unhealthy spiral.

So, she found the Fit Mother Project on YouTube, signed up for the Fit Mom Jumpstart, and hasn’t looked back since!

Listen to Robin's Story on the Fit Mother Project Podcast:

Getting Her Life In Order

In the past, Robin had tried health and fitness apps, diets, and anything else you can think of.

But, she never found anything helpful that actually worked.

Then, one day, a search for ‘healthy eating or exercises for older women' directed her to the Fit Mother Project.

“Your video for the healthy diet plan for women popped up. As soon as I clicked it, I thought this guy is really cute, let me click this video and see what he says. Everything in the video just made sense. Finally, somebody’s speaking logically to me. They’re not condescending to me. They’re just speaking. This is what you need to do. This is how to do it. This is when to do it.”

Robin didn’t know what my favorite proteins or carbs were, and she knew she wasn't eating enough vegetables.

“So, I signed up for the free Jumpstart. And that changed my life immediately. It was so much fun, first of all, to get organized and start it.”

As a result, she lost seven pounds. That’s when she decided to sign up for the complete program.

According to Robin, the first and most crucial step in her fitness journey was checking her meal plans and what was in her kitchen.

“I went through everything in my kitchen and looked at what I was buying. I realized that a lot of it was processed foods. So the first thing was to go to the store and buy the things and plan out my meals.”

She did not start her meal plans with shakes — she had eggs for breakfast.

Then she would have a sandwich for lunch and a Perfect Plate for dinner.

Even when she started making shakes, she didn't use SuperFuel.

Instead, she bought something different from the market, and she fell sick from the whey in that product.

“I didn’t realize that’s what was happening until I went online, researched, and eliminated whey. Then, I bought SuperFuel Vegan. It helped and was a game changer.”

Once she started consuming shakes, she stopped having eggs for breakfast.

Still, Robin never thought the Fit Mother Project’s meal plans were boring.

“It was comforting because before, I didn’t know. I was looking for someone to tell me what to eat. That’s what I wanted because I didn’t know. And so when you don’t know, you start grabbing all different kinds of things. Knowing what I was going to eat was not boring at all. It was comforting to me and made me feel secure. Like I knew what I was doing.”

According to Robin, she was always physically active, but she was out of shape, and that bothered her a lot.

“Before I joined the Fit Mother Project, I liked to work out. Being a massage therapist, I use my body a lot, so I could go all day at work and eat a lot of calories and not gain weight because I was burning that many calories. But I was out of shape.”

She had never done strength training before, so the Fit Mother Project’s workout regime was a game changer for her.

“It changed my physique and shape, especially in the legs and buttocks. I was like, oh my god, whose butt is that? It’s great!”

Robin has completed an entire year on the Fit Mother Project, and she's still going strong.

“I still do something with the Fit Mother Project. I either watch a video or do a workout. I always think about nutrition. I go to the community online. It’s just a huge part of my life.”

Since Robin did not have a lot of weight to lose, her weight loss journey was slow and steady.

“I didn’t have a lot of weight to lose. I just had about 15 or 20 pounds to lose. So it was coming off really slowly. And I just kept telling myself that’s OK. That’s why this is a process, a lifelong process. So I kept the momentum going, and in each phase, I’d get more excited because it would just be tweaked enough to regain my interests and try new things like carb cycling and fasting and new strength training. And once I got all the way to phase four, it was like taking the training wheels off.”

Find out how respecting yourself can help you transform your body at any age!

A Bright Future

Robin’s proud of the fact that she challenged herself to regain fitness at the age of 50.

“It’s challenging because of the hormones. I’m in peri-menopause, so I can go six months without having a period, and then all of a sudden, I have a period, and I’m bloated and five pounds heavier. And, that isn’t easy to deal with. In my mind, I’m still 30-something, but my body is 50. But I do feel better than I did in my 30s. My body looks better than it did when I was in my 30s.”

After joining the Fit Mother Project, Robin believes she can live at least another 50 years.

“I want to be a 100-year-old grandmother. I had my second kid at 40. I told my son that I was working hard to be there for him. If he decides to have kids at 40, I’ll be an 80-year-old first-time grandma.”

In the future, Robin also wants to explore more strength training.

According to her, strength training can help a great deal in boosting metabolism and ensuring overall well-being, especially for individuals who are aging.

“It gives you the serotonin. It’s the best feeling, so I’d love to get into that more.”

To keep the momentum going, she revisits the videos and reading material provided by the Fit Mother Project.

“To reignite, spark that flame, go back and look at all your videos, read all the materials, and see other ladies in the Fit Mother Project talk about their journeys. That’s always inspiring.”

So what would Robin say to someone looking to join the Fit Mother Project?

“Feel great about what you’re doing with your life. Work on yourself and your mindset. Remember that this is the only body you have for the rest of your life. Don’t treat it like a garbage can. Give yourself the self-care you deserve.”

3 Key Takeaways From Robin's Journey

To summarize, here are three key lessons you can learn from Robin’s successful health and fitness journey:

Lesson 1: Stay Motivated and Focused Along the Way

If you’ve decided to undertake a fitness journey, it’s vital to stay motivated and focused, come what may.

When you’re on a journey, you’ll come across obstacles on the way, but you’ve got to face them and keep going.

Robin is a great example.

Her weight loss journey was slow and steady; however, she didn’t give up.

She kept the momentum going!

Lesson 2: It’s OK to Be a Mom AND Focus on Yourself

We all agree that it’s not easy to be a mom.

However, that should not stop you from focusing on yourself.

You need to take care of your health and fitness; only then can you take care of your family.

Lesson 3: Start Your Fitness Journey in Your Kitchen

As we’ve repeatedly mentioned, the starting point of fitness is nutrition.

First things first, get your meals right.

Eat clean and eliminate processed foods.

Always remember the 80/20 rule — 80% nutrition and 20% exercise.

Here's how one Fit Mom did it.

Listen to Megan's Story on the Fit Mother Project Podcast:

Your daily actions and efforts over time will determine what you become.”

overcoming depression

Meet Fit Mother Amy!

She's not just a Fit Mother Project coach; she's also a member — and she's made an amazing life transformation!

Amy lost over 90 pounds on the Fit Mother Project alongside her husband Lee, who lost 110 pounds on the Fit Father Project.

Amy and Lee losing over 200 pounds together is special enough.

But what makes it particularly special is not just Amy's incredible journey, but that after she went through it and completely transformed her life, she came and started working for us as a Success and Accountability Coach!

Now, Amy helps guide other Fit Moms!

Amy has a great story to tell, and it’s so cool to get the perspective of someone who's both gone through the journey themselves and is now in the seat of being a coach and knows what it takes to help other women succeed.

You’re sure to love Amy as much as we do!

Listen to Amy's Story on the Fit Mother Project Podcast:

Nervous and Lacking Confidence

As mentioned before, Amy's husband, Lee, was a Fit Father before she became a Fit Mother.

He asked for help preparing the recipes on the meal plan, and once Amy read through them, she was intrigued.

“I ended up just making his meals and eating them with him, and they were great. They were delicious. I was going to the gym but not working out. Lee was doing all the workouts within that first week. So when I saw the change in him, I was like, that’s just one week! And next thing you know, he emailed me and said, here’s the plan for the Fit Mother Project. So that’s where it started.”

According to Amy, the program was the best thing ever for her.

“The one thing that Lee did say to me was to go through all the material thoroughly. He said that you’ve got to sit down and read it. Block off time and focus on this because you got to read it. You have to absorb it. You have to understand what you’re doing. So I went through all the steps and jumped right in.”

Amy’s motivation to hop on to the fitness journey was to regain her lost confidence.

“I felt like I lost my confidence. I lost who I was. I loved myself, but I would look in the mirror and not love who I was because I knew I wasn’t feeling healthy internally, physically, and mentally.

Her mission statement was that she needed to get back to who she was.

Amy reveals that she was nervous and scared when she started the program.

But she got over it quickly, and even after one day, she felt elated and proud.

She could look in the mirror and feel better.

“I felt like I looked better, even though I know you don’t lose weight after one day. But I felt better because I was feeding myself, just giving myself what I needed. I was fueling my body correctly. I was giving myself hydration. I was moving my body with the exercises and stuff like that. So it was great.”

Per Amy, her first week with the Fit Mother Project was outstanding.

The scale was going down, and she followed everything the program outlined.

“Lee and I were following it to the tee, and it was awesome that we were doing it together. We were both bouncing off ideas to each other. I’d be like, so what was I supposed to do here? And he would help me because the Apex exercise is the same in both.”

Amy lost about 10 pounds in the first week, and that motivated her even more.

Learn about Amy’s Fit Mother journey fueled by internal shifts!

Making Her Life Transformation

Ten months later, Amy had lost 90 pounds!

Amy calls herself and her husband ‘food snobs' and mentions that they have been very particular about their food since becoming members of the Fit Mother and Fit Father Project.

She says that she cannot trade the lifestyle change brought about by the Fit Mother Project and considers her previous lifestyle foreign.

“When Lee and I would go out to eat after going through the program, we liked specific food. We wouldn’t go to chain restaurants because we didn’t like those. So we became, we like to call it, food snobs. We go to the farm or to places where we know we could get some great food and stuff like that. So it just became a lifestyle.”

Now Amy and Lee enjoy cooking together and like trying new recipes.

“We’re so much happier now. To think back on the way we used to do things, it’s so hard now. It’s foreign to us. We think about it, and we’re like, gosh, we used to eat like that? I can’t believe I did that to myself. I can’t believe I let myself go. We’re so much happier right now. Three years in, it’s hard to look at pictures of us back then.

Amy, being overweight and someone who had a hysterectomy and meniscus surgery, never believed she could do heavy physical activities.

However, she has now found a new passion in running and weightlifting.

“If you had asked me three years ago if I were running, the answer would have been no. I had meniscus surgery, and I was heavy. So I asked the doctor if I would be able to run again, and he clearly said no.”

Now, Amy is a Fit Mother coach, living the lifestyle and helping other Fit Moms along the way.

“It’s a mindset. It would be best if you had the right mindset. You also have to be kind to yourself. Nobody’s perfect. You have to make progress. You have to tell your mind that you can do it.”

According to Amy, as a member of the Fit Mother Project program, you can't overtrain yourself.

“It’s just simple little steps and breaking everything down into smaller goals. Don’t overtrain because that can lead to injuries. Celebrate the small little things you do every day and enjoy the process.”

Per Amy, fixing your nutrition and properly hydrating are the most significant aspects of weight loss.

There were times when Lee would lose weight more quickly than Amy, even though they followed the same nutrition and workout plans.

There were also times when Amy hit weight loss plateaus, and the scale refused to move.

Nevertheless, she kept going and used non-scale victories to keep her going.

During these challenging times, she thought about her positive achievements with the program.

“I went down two pant sizes. I have so much energy. I’m buzzing around the house, cleaning things up. I had to look at the other aspects of this journey. It’s not just about the number. I had to think about just how I was feeling in general.”

Amy has found her way back to confidence and feels good mentally, physically, spiritually, and emotionally.

“When the body feels better, it’s easier to have a happier mind.”

She is leading a healthier life now.

She wakes up early, stays hydrated, and focuses on her nutrition and workout regimes throughout the day.

She’s not snacking anymore.

Moreover, her health and fitness journey has brought Lee and her together.

It has further strengthened their bond, and they love to work together to keep themselves healthy.

Their kids are also proud of them.

So what would Amy say to someone looking to join the Fit Mother Project?

“Your health and fitness journey is a mindset and lifestyle change. Take it one step at a time. Tell yourself you can do this. It’s just simple little steps and breaking everything down into smaller goals. It’s about nutrition. If you can clean up the nutrition and focus on getting your hydration in, that’s the biggest part of weight loss. The process is amazing. You’re just changing up your nutrition. As women, when we start journeys like this, we are all looking at weight loss as a diet. This is just a nutrition change. We’re not buying any special foods.”

life transformation

3 Key Takeaways From Amy's Journey

To summarize, here are three key lessons you can learn from Amy’s successful health and fitness journey:

Lesson 1: Proper Nutrition Is Key

Once you achieve your desired weight, it does not mean that it's time to give up on the right nutrition.

But, as Amy points out, the most difficult part begins after the weight loss, i.e., maintaining the weight.

Fitness is forever a work in progress and demands you to show up for yourself every day.

Lesson 2: Appreciate the Non-Scale Victories

Along the fitness journey, you will progress in your self-esteem, spirituality, mental well-being, and so on.

These are some victories that cannot be measured but are victories nonetheless.

We often take these milestones for granted in the quest to lose weight and gain muscles.

Celebrate these wins because they bring you closer to your ultimate goals.

Lesson 3: Be Kind to Yourself

People often speak negatively about themselves or disrespect themselves for not meeting their expectations.

Unfortunately, this does not work in their favor because it pulls them down.

It tears apart their self-belief.

Hence, be kind to yourself and tell yourself that you can do it, all along the way.

This will always push you to do better.

Steph was skeptical at first, but once she saw how easy it really is, she jumped into the Fit Mother Project.

There was no looking back from there, and their transformation from an unfit couple to a fit couple, to a fit family, was underway!

Listen to Steph's Story on the Fit Mother Project Podcast:

Getting On the Same Page

As we mentioned, Chris got the ball rolling when he joined the Fit Father Project.

Steph recalls how Chris discovered FFP.

“Chris comes to me one day, and says, this is what I want to do. When he decides he wants to do something, he’s doing it; nothing’s stopping him. I was like, oh my goodness, what have you found now? What is this going to do to us? What’s the cost? Where does this go? How long are you going to stick with it? Chris brought the program to me, and I said to him, OK, fine.”

Within a week of Chris joining, Steph began to get interested.

“I started snooping in and reading a little bit more about it. Hang on. This is just easy. Hey, what’s going on here? Why do I agree with him?”

That’s how she ended up joining the Fit Mother Project. She admitted that her husband had come up with a good idea.

According to Chris, the first month was all about nutrition.

“We were getting supplements. We were getting food. We were doing a lot of reading and had set a start date for ourselves. So the first thing we did was research and development to make sure that we knew what we were doing. Nutrition was a big, big change.”

Steph adds, “Everybody knows it’s 80% nutrition, 20% exercise, and being a young family with two young picky eaters, we had to figure out how to make it work so that all four of us are fed well. We literally spent two weeks preparing meals. We made all these freezer meals.”

The couple eliminated all the excuses (for example, we are running behind schedule, so let’s eat out today) that were obstacles and set themselves up for success.

According to Steph and Chris, there was a little bit of trial and error when they first started.

Steph says, “I started working out at night because it was the only time possible. However, we realized that working out in the morning was important. Therefore, we looked at our life schedule and said, how can we fit in this morning routine? I took the sacrifice and started waking up earlier because I wanted to be a better version of myself for my family. And Chris supported me. He handled the kids while I was working out.”

Now they both get up in the morning and work out. They’ve also taught their kids to serve themselves.

Per Steph, her experience with the Fit Mother Project program’s exercises and workouts was empowering.

She adds, “I have to admit that the exercises were absolutely intimidating to start with. But then I wrote my mission statement. I was like, OK, I have to do these workouts. There’s no other option. I have to do this because I am worth it. And my family is.”

She completed her first Apex 10 successfully and did not look back after that.

Chris was happy to watch his wife excel and power through the workouts.

“She was solid through it all. Every time the exercise switched, she’d go onto the next one and nail it.”

See how Steph and Chris were able to change their family’s dynamic!

Different Goals, But Similar Determinations and Motivations

While Steph and Chris were on two opposite journeys — weight loss for Steph and muscle gain for Chris — their determination and motivation were similar.

Chris says, “She understood what I was doing, and I understood what she was doing. In terms of food, we ended up making the same thing and just changing the portions. So I needed to be at a calorie surplus to build muscle, and she needed to be at a calorie deficit to lose weight.”

According to Steph, the process leading up to the mission statement, the material provided by the Fit Mother Project team, and the psychology behind it was an entire process in and of itself.

“I wrote that I need to do this so I can be here for my kids and they can have healthy choices. The entire thing made me realize that I was trying to be the perfect mom and do everything I could by sacrificing myself for my children. However, I was only doing myself and my family a disservice by not prioritizing myself to be the best version of myself and not empowering my children and husband to be the best versions of themselves.”

When asked if the family feels bored with their daily nutrition and workout routines, they said that they don’t feel deprived at all and workouts have become fun.

“We turned it into a game. Going back to the structure and schedule, we literally would print off a calendar every month and write our workouts and some activities for the kids. We also crafted meal schedules. What meals are we going to make today versus tomorrow? What variety do we need to add to the meal we’re preparing today? What’s our Friday fun meal? We got excited on days we had to have a freezer meal; we made it a treat. It was never boring because we made it a game every week.”

According to Steph, her journey with the Fit Mother Project program was all about self-love and commitment.

“Every month was a success. There was never a moment of failure because I knew that it was a continuing journey. Even after losing the first 10 pounds, it was like; we’re not going back. How can we do this more? How can we make ourselves better? That first month made me self-confident. I was like, oh my goodness, I did this. I’m still caring for my kids. I’m still handling my career. My job is doing better than ever because I have the mental space to care about my job and myself.”

Steph recalls the day when her younger son said, “Hey mom, I fit on your lap better. Where’d your tummy go? I can snuggle you.”

She was stunned to hear those words from him as he was only five at that time.

Her elder son also said, “You look amazing. You’re beating me in a race now. Why are you beating me in a race?”

After seeing their parents work out and get fit, the kids are on the right track to a lifetime of health and wellness.

Chris adds, “I actually had our oldest at the squat rack. So I got him doing some light barbell squats to get the form going and some deadlifts and stuff like that. He’s starting to get the hang of it and enjoys it. So I think there might be a future there.”

So what would Steph say to someone looking to join the Fit Mother Project?

“All you new women or men who are trying this program, or don’t think you can do this, trust the process, trust in yourself, and believe it or not, you will do amazing things in your lives. I had a binge eating disorder and was a borderline alcoholic. Here I am today, incredibly healthy and empowered by life mentally. And, I know you think you can’t do it, but you absolutely can. As long as you believe in yourself and trust that it’s OK to put yourself first.”

3 Key Takeaways From Steph and Chris's Journey

To summarize, here are three key lessons you can learn from Steph and Chris’s successful health and fitness journey:

Lesson 1: Cleaning Up Your Nutrition Is the First Step Toward Getting Fit

The 80-20 rule talks about 80% nutrition and 20% exercise.

While most mistake this the other way round, it is essential to understand that 80% of nutrition can play a significant role in fitness.

Both nutrition and exercise complement each other.

When you clean up your nutrition, you desire healthy foods.

They taste phenomenal, your taste buds change, and you want to eat real food.

Also, you feel great overall!

Lesson 2: Commit to Yourself First

You have to commit to loving yourself enough to put in the effort in the beginning and then to continue loving yourself every day as the progress is slow and gradual.

Steph and Chris were accountable to each other; however, they were first accountable to themselves.

They were on entirely different journeys where self-accountability was highly critical.

Lesson 3: Team Effort Can Go a Long Way in Achieving Success

Training with someone who is working for the same thing can be powerful and even unstoppable.

In this case, Steph and Chris had different fitness goals.

Nevertheless, their determination and motivation to become better versions of themselves for their kids combined to benefit both of them.

Making weight loss sustainable is easy when you find the health and fitness path that’s right for YOU! Just ask Fit Mother Diane!

Diane is a wife, mother, grandmother, and business owner who, like many busy women, found her health fall by the wayside.

In her late 50s, Diane was over 200 pounds with a host of medical issues. She was pre-diabetic and had plantar fasciitis and high blood pressure. She was also coming off years of struggling with fad diets.

But … Diane found a way to lose 75 pounds and get into the best shape of her life right before her 60th birthday. And she's been sustaining it for years since.

How? It all started when she and her husband found the Fit Mother and Fit Father Project!

Listen to Diane's Story on the Fit Mother Project Podcast:

Dealing With Multiple Medical Issues

Growing up, Diane was thin and athletic.

However, after one year of her marriage, she started having medical problems.

She was prescribed steroids that caused weight gain.

Besides that, Diane spent almost 31 years of her life fluctuating between being overweight and where she wanted to be.

“The where-I-wanted-to-be periods never lasted for very long.”

She had previously joined gyms and hired a personal trainer, too.

She would benefit from those workouts to some extent but could never achieve much when it came to making weight loss sustainable.

And even if she could, her medical issues kept holding her back.

She also found it challenging to change her eating habits — she could never exercise control over what she was eating.

Moreover, she and her husband had a very unorganized eating schedule.

They would often go out and eat despite realizing they were gaining weight.

“We’re always at some restaurant. We would have two, sometimes three, wines and some rich, abundant meals, so the pounds just crept on. And even though we both knew we were getting overweight, we didn’t seem to stop. So we kept thinking we’ll go to the gym harder. We’ll go longer, and we’ll spend more time there.”

Diane would also indulge in stress eating and drinking during holidays and skip the gym regularly.

Before long, Diane succumbed to her sedentary lifestyle, medical conditions, and obesity.

“I had resigned to the fact that this is it. This is the best it is. I might as well let the doctor put me on all kinds of drugs and take care of everything.”

Both she and her husband had spent a lot of money on other fitness programs to no avail.

However, even during those programs, they were still following an unhealthy lifestyle.

One day when Diane finally decided to talk to her husband about canceling the gym membership, she was surprised to learn that he had joined the Fit Father Project.

Diane recalls her husband saying, “I want you to do it with me. We always do everything together. If we’re being bad, we’re doing it together. If we’re being good, we’re doing it together. Whatever it is that we’re doing, we’re usually doing it together. We’re thick as thieves; we’re Frick and Frack.”

So, he showed her the Fit Mother Project, and eventually, she joined.

The couple started following the nutrition and workout plans together, and they were on their way!

Find out how Diane was able to transform her health and lose 75 pounds!

Making Weight Loss Sustainable

After a month or so, Diane lost quite a few pounds, but her husband lost more.

“I thought, it’s not fair. But truth be told, he was more dedicated than I was.”

He had completely given up on beer; however, Diane continued to drink wine at least twice a week.

Nevertheless, the initial weight loss gave Diane the motivation to continue the plan with a deeper willingness and desire to commit.

And eventually, Diane gave up drinking, too.

“I quit. The first two weeks made me look at myself deeply and hard.”

Around the same time, Diane joined the Fit Mother Project; she was dealing with plantar fasciitis in both her feet.

She was also diagnosed with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and pre-diabetes.

Her doctor told her that she was obese.

“I had fancy and expensive inserts for both my shoes because it hurt to get out of bed. So the doctor prescribed a list of the drugs he wanted to give me.”

Nevertheless, Diane challenged herself to fix her health on her own and discussed it with her doctor.

“I told him to give me three months, and we’ll revisit this in three months. If you still feel the same, I’ll let you give me those drugs. He agreed. And this doctor has been my doctor for 30 years.”

A few months into the Fit Mother Project, Diane had her health checkup again.

This time, her reports showed remarkable differences in her health.

She had lost 18 pounds in the first month on the Fit Mother Project.

And it just got better from there!

Diane lost 75 pounds in 10 months on the Fit Mother Project.

She weighed 216 pounds before starting the program and came down to 140 pounds as she neared the 10-month mark.

However, her 75-pound weight loss journey was not all pleasant and smooth.

Losing the last 10 pounds was especially difficult for her as she underwent tumor removal surgery in her leg.

Against the doctors’ advice to rest for 4-6 weeks, she recovered enough by the third week to stay in tune with the fitness program.

“The first step was watching my husband be so laser-focused. What made that so easy? What gave him that strength? I felt pride in what he was doing. When he looks at me, I want him to say that I’m his wife who can do anything.”

Diane found the Fit Mother Project’s nutrition program helpful as it clearly outlined the need for clean eating.

“I liked cleaning up the food. I realized this program is 80% nutrition and 20% exercise.”

So what would Diane say to someone looking to join the Fit Mother Project?

“The Fit Mother Project helped me regain my identity and finally feel happy, content, and comfortable in my skin. I didn’t shop for clothes for years unless I needed something because I didn’t want to see that side. Now I can’t wait to go shopping, spend money, get new things, treat myself, and do girly stuff. So when I think about the Fit Mother Project, it’s just a part of who I am now.”

3 Key Takeaways From Diane's Journey

To summarize, here are three key lessons you can learn from Diane’s successful health and fitness journey:

Lesson 1: Nobody's Perfect

Through Diane’s journey, she achieved success despite difficulties.

Along any fitness journey, there will likely be temptations to eat poorly, skip workouts, etc. This is all completely normal and does not define you.

So understand that you will not have the motivation to work hard each day. Reminding yourself of the purpose of your journey and how far you have come will propel you forward.

Lesson 2: Avoid Internalizing Medical Labels

It is important to stay updated on your health. However, when you internalize your medical condition, you will find it more of an excuse than a reason not to try to make it better.

Often, we end up relying more on drugs than our body’s natural abilities against medical conditions. It is a good choice to have an alternative risk management course to medicines.

Lesson 3: Never Give Up

Diane’s journey shows how she picked herself up again after giving up on her weight and medical condition and how it worked wonders for her life.

Giving up means depriving yourself of all the possibilities that lie ahead. Take your own time with things. Make up your solutions and try again if they don’t work out.

Seek support from others or hang in there long enough to see what other opportunities can open up along your journey.
